Novice Coaching – Introduction To Our New Learning Site

Coaching is a often used term in the business environment.  However, one must be clear about the difference between coaching, mentoring and counseling which are sometimes loosely spoke about among executives.  Coaching focus on providing engaging with the coachee with the aim to support him or her to come out with own solutions to the issues identified.   In order to do that, various coaching models are available such as GROW and Ontological coaching.

For the case of mentoring, this typically happens in a superior subordinate relationship, in which the mentor can share knowledge and experience with the mentee.  The mentee thus receive the direction and guidance needed. Counselling addresses the psychological state and well-being of an individual.  Often emotional issues are encountered in the counseling session and as such this requires the counselor to be psychologically trained or certified.
