Some of our fellow TNT colleagues went away last week on a trianing camp (holiday) to Majorca. Unfortunately they have all been grounded by the volcanic ash cloud so are stuck out there until next weekend - and not one of them has thought about doing a swim/cycle/run back home...
Due to this unforseen event, Matt has raised the TNT training session alert level from amber (well, orange really, I suppose) to red and put in place an emergency plan. ALL sessions this week WILL still be on as normal.
This Thursday is the pool swim at Goodwin. I am in contact with Fiona there and will be tyring to take only two lanes rather than the usual four as the numbers will be down. Other than that the session will be run as normal as possible with a planned swim workout of some kind for ALL abilities.
The Abbey 800 run will be setting off from Millhouses cafe at 11am this Saturday. Myself and a couple of others will lead out to the '800' and do our best to impersonate Matt whilst you bust your lungs running up the hill!
The cycle on Sunday morning from Hathersage is still on and hopefully Rob (Scarpello) and/or Richard (Little) will be there to arrange something - I can't make the ride as I'm doing the Sheffield Half. If I get any more details on the ride throughout the week then I'll add a note to this thread to keep everyone informed.
That's it for now, hope to see you all at the sessions as normal.
Cheers
Steve |

News in from Dom Horton is that he'll be available to lead out a ride on Sunday morning. If anyone who's interested could either post a reply up here, give Dom a ring on 07811 256430 or drop him an email at domhorton@gmail.com he can then get an idea of numbers to see how many people we'll need to help out.
Unfortunately I can't make Sunday as I'm going to be busy beating Steve at the half marathon
Huge sympathy to everyone who's stuck in Mallorca with beautiful sunshine and perfect cycling roads!
Cheers,
Rob |

Thanks Steve for the swim session last night, great to see so many people being coached all at once by one person. Top marks for the running of the session, though I think more than a few thought that the outfit wasn't befitting of chief swim coach...

Latest news on the ride tomorrow is that Dom has developed mumps, there's not much that stops Dom but even he seems to have been a bit floored by this and so won't be able to lead things out. I've been in touch with Rich and Si Wells and unfortunately they're both busy so can't help out.
Still, even from his sick bed Dom was still thinking all things TNT and came up with the suggestion that tomorrow would be a good opportunity for those who can make it to ride out from Hathersage and get some times posted for the Froggatt hill climb. I look forward to seeing some blistering times.
Things seem to be getting a bit biblical at the moment with TNT what with volcanoes and now disease!
Get well soon Dom.

Thanks Kat, I was quite prepared to try and coach a lane of swimming and set the rest off on their set. However 14 people and 2 lanes of coaching across an ability range of "I can't swim" to "next week, Phelps is mine" came as quite a shock!! I will also remember in future to bring my leather...ahem, I mean lycra...

Next time Henchley!
Some fairly underhand tactics there sneaking past me in the last 100m - next time I'm going to make you wear a bell so I can hear you coming! |

Not been called Harry Potter before? Did you mean someone else?
Harry Potter and a slacker who swims like a brick then? |

I do mean someone else yes. I think you're getting your films mixed up. Surely you're the metal dude with a propensity to seize up at the merest hint of precipitation from the popular children's movie about a bunch of weirdos and their quest to find a conjuror from Australia
Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) graced the Sheffield Half with his presence and posted a time around 1:27.......apparently.
But well done anyway |
